Impressive stuff that makes you go 'niiice'

Precious is a touring bike completely fitted-out with sensors, capturing data using its Arduino brain and interpretting all of its experiences, combined with a cloud-based system that analyzes those experiences.

Put this all together and get a bike that’s able to express itself in his own words. He shares his up-to-the-moment thoughts and has a subconscious which allows him to dream about all he’s been through.

The bike has been developed by Breakfast and is currently making it’s way across the US to benefit LIVESTRONG®.

I would love my bike kitted-out for a race like this.

Check out the site or follow the bike on twitter to see what’s happening now.

During the great British snow-dump of 2009 I built myself a sledge out of wooden palette that I found in a skip. During the build I documented the process and wrote an instruction guide that I posted in Instructables. As it turns out almost one year on, with snow blanketing the whole country the instructions are still a hit, and have even been featured by the site and listed on their homepage.

For anyone interested in building their own sledge, the instructions are here:

iPhone RFID: object-based media from timo on Vimeo.
This is a prototype of an iPhone media player that uses RFID embedded in physical objects to control media playback. You could imagine navigating through an environment with system as part of a real-word game.

What a beautiful day. After finishing all of my work I quickly built a snow sledge out of a discarded wooden palette. I’ve uploaded the instructions to Instructables.

Hampstead Heath looked absolutely amazing and was full of the happiest people, enjoying the joys of sledging and snowballs.

Parliament Hill

My sledge worked an absolute treat, but a few modifications  – had I the time – could have made it quicker.

The Sledge

A couple of lads moulded together the largest snowball I’ve ever seen and lauched it down Parliament Hill.

Largest snowball ever (maybe)

Ultimately, what today made me realise, is that one day I’ve got to be my own boss so that I can have this much fun whenever I want.

I spent Saturday building myself a garden table for the flat. No more eating of our laps.

Big thanks to my Dad.

I’ve been doing quite a lot of DIY recently and making use of my dad’s power saw. Although cutting wood has been relatively pain-free (touch wood), I have often considered how easy it would be to loose a finger or two and stain my new DIY recycling bin with blood.

The SawStop comes equipped with new sensor technology that can tell when the blade comes in contact with soft human flesh. Within a few milliseconds the saw blade stops and drops below the cutting surface, so that any errant digits come away with just a nick.
